With my gentle, relaxing HeilÜben exercises, you’ll learn how I uncovered and reduced the stress and damaging tension hidden behind my pain and inflammation. This approach allowed me to remain below my overload threshold, which facilitated the healing of my rheumatoid arthritis inflammation, pain, restricted mobility, and chronic condition.

The HÜ! Levels outline the process I went through to evaluate my abilities and develop skills that intentionally and consciously relieve stress on my body.
A key principle of the HÜ! exercises is that a whole is greater than the sum of its parts – this applies to both body and mind.

Since developing my first exercises to combat pain and inflammation, I have noticed a significant increase in my self-awareness, both physically and mentally. Before this, I struggled to manage my reactions in stressful situations, often failing to recognise and alleviate excessive tension in a timely manner. My rheumatoid arthritis and chronic polyarthritis were physical manifestations of this issue.
I longed to be completely healthy from RA again and was ready to improve my life through change, though I didn’t yet know what that change could look like or where to find the energy for it, given that my daily routine with RA already consumed most of my energy and time.
As I practised healing my rheumatoid arthritis, I learned to take better care of myself overall, which helped me persevere in the face of adversity. As I progressed with my Heilüben exercises, my sensations became increasingly refined, my mobility and my posture improved.
This improvement in perception laid the foundation for identifying and reducing excessive tension in my body, as well as addressing the habits that led to its buildup in the first place, thereby permanently relieving pressure on my joints. Today, I can respond to discomfort more quickly and specifically, reducing stress before it escalates into overload. Greater self-knowledge enables me to take better care of myself.
In the HeilÜben Levels, you will discover in detail what my healing exercises consist of and how complete HeilÜben exercises were developed from various elements. The three levels guide you through the individual steps that contributed to my healing journey.
I.
How I learned to deliberately and gently activate my body during rheumatoid arthritis, even though I suffered from chronic inflammation, pain, and restricted movement due to rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
By increasing our awareness of the connections between our physical sensations, movements and posture, tension and relaxation, and emotions and thoughts, we can intentionally use this awareness to further develop our skills.
HeilÜben Exercises
Level 1 Part 1

We will create more positive and supportive images of ourselves, our goals, and our abilities.

Regulating my emotions better allowed me to begin my journey of holistic self-regulation, even while I was dealing with severe rheumatoid arthritis. I faced challenges such as pain, inflammation, and restricted movement. My body was affected by the autoimmune response of rheumatoid arthritis, and I had unconsciously developed habits that weakened my immune system, causing it to attack my own body. Through my HeilÜben exercises, I learned to identify and dismantle these harmful habits.

Level 1 Part 2

We will explore how our imagination, emotions, sensations, movement, and posture influence one another. By deliberately working on our posture and the preparation and execution of our movements through movement imagination, we can enhance their interactions.
In our journey of self-awareness, we act as our own mental trainer and inner coach. We implement our ideas and desires, with the quality of our results depending on the extent of our abilities, so training them is essential.
When we make plans and set goals, we, as our inner coach, consider various ways to achieve them. As our trainer, we ensure continuous improvement in our performance through regular practice.
HeilÜben Exercises
Level 1 Part 3

We will practice body movement and posture in a more physically active manner that adapts to our individual physical conditions.

Adapting to the course of my RA, I gradually began to engage my musculoskeletal system more actively. This led me to incorporate HeilÜben exercises, which intentionally and consciously introduced healthier impulses and habits into my daily life.
Through this approach, I was able to improve my proprioception and learn to calm myself, something I had previously struggled with without even realizing it. I discovered how to pause amidst the stress, a feeling I had forgotten how to experience. Despite my rheumatoid arthritis, I began to recover and rediscover a sense of inner security and balance.
II.
My Heilüben exercises specifically targeted the pain and inflammation caused by my rheumatoid arthritis.
The right time, when I would be fully prepared to win immediately against rheumatoid arthritis, never came. As long as RA kept my body in a constant state of turmoil, with pain serving as my primary motivator and providing endless exercise options, my HeilÜben exercises were always evolving. I experimented, improved, and adapted until I gained a thorough understanding of what triggered my rheumatoid arthritis in various situations.

Level 2

We will put relaxation into practice to manage pain and inflammation, focusing on recognising and releasing unnoticed but harmful tension.
Over time, my HeilÜben exercises, which I initially structured with intention, became more intuitive and faster to perform. Everything I had successfully incorporated through these exercises gradually became part of my spontaneous reactions. This process evolved over the span of several months, from June to December 1996.
III.
HeilÜben exercises during the period when my rheumatoid arthritis pain, inflammation, and chronic condition ended.
Through my experiences, I practised becoming more aware of harmful tension in my everyday life. I discovered that its source lay in my reaction to discomfort and learned to reduce excess tension before it escalated into pain and inflammation. This practice helped me stop the chronic chain reaction associated with my rheumatoid arthritis, and spanned from December 1996 to March 2001.

Level 3

We consciously relax when we experience uncomfortable sensations, which helps to relieve and reduce those feelings immediately after a triggering situation.

As I improved my ability to distinguish between danger and safety, I could intentionally create a sense of safety for myself. I began trying new things, gathering diverse experiences, and comparing them. I learned how to recover and return to a safe internal state after feeling overwhelmed.
This process helped me shift out of defence mode. As a result, my immune system became more stable and responsive, no longer attacking my own body. My HeilÜben exercises gradually became stable, healthier habits.
The HÜ! Levels are part of the HeilÜben exercises events.
