HeilÜben exercises for Body and Mind
With my gentle, relaxing HeilÜben exercises, you’ll learn how I uncovered and reduced the stress and damaging tension hidden behind my pain and inflammation. This allowed me to return below my overload limit, where my rheumatoid arthritis healed up, and to stay there.
The HÜ! Levels follow and describe the process of me evaluating my abilities and how I could use them to practice skills that would intentionally and consciously relieve stress on my body.

Since developing my first exercises to combat pain and inflammation, they have helped raise my self-awareness, both for my physical and for my mental wellbeing.
Until then, I hadn’t been able to help myself well enough in certain stressful situations, meaning I couldn’t recognise and relieve excessive tension in time. My rheumatoid arthritis/chronic polyarthritis was the physical manifestation of this.
I longed to be completely healthy again and was ready to improve my life through change. But I didn’t yet know what that change could look like. Not to mention where was I supposed to get the energy for that, while my daily routine with RA already consumed most of my energy and time?
So as I practised to heal my rheumatoid arthritis, I learned to take better care of myself overall, helping myself persevere in the face of adversity.
As I progressed with my HeilÜben exercises, my sensations gradually became more finely tuned, my mobility increased, and my posture improved.
This, in turn, led to even more and more finely tuned sensations, enriching my perception.
By improving my perception this way, I laid the foundation to identify and reduce excessive tension in my body, as well as my habit of building up such tension in the first place, thus permanently relieving pressure on my joints.
Today, I can respond to discomfort more quickly and specifically, thereby reducing stress before it turns into overload. Greater knowledge of myself means being better able to do good things for myself.

HÜ! Level 1 (consisting of 3 parts) is all about the individual parts that make up the HeilÜben exercises and how those parts come together in forming an exercise.

We’ll create more positive and supportive images of ourselves, our goals, and our abilities.

By becoming more aware of the interplay of our physical sensations, movement and posture, tension and relaxation, emotions and thoughts, we can use them more intentionally to develop our skills further.

Level 1 Part 2

We’ll observe how our imagination, our emotions, our sentiences as well as our movement and posture, influence each other and use all of them deliberately.
In our self-awareness, we are always our own mental trainer and inner coach. We implement our ideas and desires, with the results corresponding to our abilities. Therefore, it’s worth practising them. When making plans and setting goals, we, as our inner coach, consider possible ways of achieving them. As our trainer, we ensure sustained performance improvement through regular practice.

HeilÜben exercises during my pain attacks
The right time, when I would be fully prepared to immediately and decisively defeat rheumatoid arthritis, never came. As long as RA turned my body into a permanent construction site, where pain was my main drive of motivation and offered me a multitude of exercise options, my HeilÜben exercises were in constant flux. I tried, improved, and adapted until I had learned in detail what caused my rheumatoid arthritis in a wide variety of situations. My HeilÜben exercises, which I had previously deliberately set up, became more intuitive and faster over time. Everything I had learned to use successfully through my HeilÜben exercises increasingly became part of my spontaneous reaction habit. For me, this process lasted from June to December 1996.

Level 2

We’ll put relaxation into practice when dealing with pain and inflammation. Our focus will be on recognising and releasing unnoticed but harmful tension.

HeilÜben exercises during the period when my pain, inflammation, and chronic course ended.
With my experiences, I then practised becoming more aware of harmful tension in my everyday life. I found its origin in my reaction to discomfort and learned to reduce excess tension before it developed into pain and inflammation. The chronic chain reaction of my rheumatoid arthritis also came to an end. For me, this process lasted from December 1996 to March 2001.
