The first and most fundamental step in managing rheumatoid arthritis is to seek continuous treatment from a medical professional, specifically an internal medicine rheumatologist. Seeking medical attention is essential because, as laypeople, we lack the training and expertise to accurately diagnose, evaluate, and treat rheumatoid arthritis and its potential consequences.
Yet, we got this one life and this one body. And the strong desire for change, while rheumatoid arthritis is seen as generally incurable.
You want more? I wanted more as well, more for myself.
More from life, more time, more for my body.
The journey to self-discovery is rewarding and worth undertaking, especially when we draw on the experiences of others who are, or were, similarly afflicted.
The HÜ! Readings approach my time with rheumatoid arthritis, my experiences with healing, my view on overload-induced rheumatoid arthritis, the HeilÜben exercises, and my book (release date end of 2026) entitled:
Out of Rheumatoid Arthritis!
Good triggers – good reactions
Say “Hello” to your body.
In its very own language.
On the question of the contribution of proprioception to the emergence, maintenance, and healing of overload-induced rheumatoid arthritis.
The HeilÜben exercises in basics, technique, and application
A holistic, interdisciplinary self-help model to support self-awareness in the overload-induced chronic inflammatory joint disease by improving biopsychosocial self-regulation. Presented by the example of a strategy of self-empowerment to reduce stress in dealing with pain, inflammation, and the chronic condition in rheumatoid arthritis, as a result of the impact of stress on posture, movement preparation, and execution.

Would you like to take a closer look at the HeilÜben exercises?
Then you have come to the right place.
We’ll talk about the moments when we can recognise the need for something to change in our lives. We’ll ask ourselves to define what that something is and how change can be successful.
Creating space for myself to make changes and understanding just what kind of changes I am aiming at is one of the fundamental topics in the HeilÜben exercises.
The HÜ! Talks are held on Mondays variably hosting one of the following eight talks, on the topics most requested by our participants.
Together, we’ll explore our potential for making changes happen, which our imagination, body memory, desires, sensations, posture, and movement open up to us.
The HÜ! Talk about Level 1.1

We’ll examine the difference it makes whether we want something for or from our body.
We’ll take the time to discuss both our backgrounds and what they mean to us, explore how we formulate our desires, and how this can influence our goals and the paths we take to achieve them.
The HÜ! Talks about Level 1.2

We’ll discuss how we can deliberately control our posture and movement, and how this can help us recognise and eliminate unhealthy habits in those two areas.
Additionally, we’ll consciously create more space for new experiences, enabling us to intentionally enhance our interactions with ourselves.

We’ll look at our experiences with visualising anything that directly affects us. Visualising can be very clear and produce concrete ideas, or it can be more vague and leave us with a vague feeling or broad impression. The effect that visualising, and our imagination, have in general, and thus on our actions, is usually significant – sometimes perceived more consciously and sometimes more subliminally.
Supposing we want to change certain circumstances in our lives, it’s worth examining our ideas as the starting point and driving force behind how we interact with ourselves. The more consciously we can change our conception of ourselves and our actions for the better, the more we will change our plans and actions in the same direction.

We’ll look at both the simple, habitual movements we perform and the more complex, deliberate ones, as well as the posture we adopt while falling asleep/sleeping. We’ll also discuss brief periods of wakefulness during the night.
We’ll consider how we can pay more attention to ourselves to improve our posture and movement.
The HÜ! Talk about Level 1.3

We’ll discuss how much arthritis pain and other discomfort we can tolerate in our daily life while still attending to other responsibilities. The HeilÜben exercises begin by observing even the smallest tasks and exploring how we can use our new insights to organise our work, responsibilities, and leisure time with less pressure and tension.
We’ll talk about how, especially with a chronic inflammatory disease that pushes us to our limits and beyond, we can still find the time and strength to pause in our daily lives and seek out changes for ourselves.
We’ll explore situations where we’re too distracted to treat ourselves with the care we deserve and need. We’ll develop ideas and opportunities to increase awareness and make self-care easier.
The HÜ! Talks about Level 2

We’ll discuss how I utilised my HeilÜben exercises for rheumatoid arthritis to alleviate pain directly and examine the effects on swelling, inflammation, and restricted movement.
I’ll discuss my implementation of Heilüben exercises to combat pain and inflammation, along with my personal experiences. Using various examples, I’ll explain how I developed and continually improved my healing exercises.
Any questions you may have at this point are valued and welcome, as they are an essential part of the HÜ! Talks altogether.

We’ll reflect on the varying levels of strain that rheumatoid arthritis causes in us, ranging from periods of more severe pain to milder pain, and ultimately to pain-free periods.
We’ll examine our primary driving forces for change. Is it pain, the physical destruction resulting from the inflammatory process, restricted mobility, or exhaustion?
We’ll discuss the broader scope of action available during pain-free periods and how to maximise its benefits.
The HÜ! Talk about Level 3

We’ll compare how being comfortable, insecure or tense influences posture and movement.
We examine our perceptions and physical expressions when confronted with unpleasant situations, feelings of impatience, disappointment, and powerlessness in daily life and individual contexts, and compare these with our posture and movement in moments of comfort and self-assurance.
We sense the changes within us that occur in the transition from pleasant to unpleasant and from unpleasant to pleasant sensations, and observe how our bodies react to these changes.
We discuss strategies for regaining calm and self-comfort when experiencing discomfort. And how, in our attempts to improve our lives, whether by changing or withdrawing from certain situations, we can develop greater understanding and support for ourselves, even when we are confronted with half-measures or setbacks, fatigue, uncertainty, helplessness, and frustration along the way. We look at what helps us move forward. We discuss our options, which we can use individually or in combination with others. We discuss topics such as relaxation and imagination, physical exercises, nutrition, tolerance and confrontation, successful interpersonal interactions, constructiveness, and more.
